Batman is a failure...
Why is Batman a legend?🤷 He fails everytime to keep villians out of Gotham!
What do Michael Jordan, J.K. Rowling, and Batman all have in common...?
They were all FAILURES.
Take a look:
Michael Jordan has famously said he LOST almost 300 games...
J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter was first REJECTED TWELVE TIMES by publishers...
And Batman’s villains continue to break free from Arkham Asylum and cause chaos in Gotham... even though he’s supposedly the “world’s greatest detective” ...
So why do we regard these stories as “legends” or “heroes”...?
The simple answer...?
They all “got in the game.”
In other words...
Michael Jordan didn’t sit on the sidelines, “wishing” he could play basketball...
He got in the game and played.
J.K. Rowling didn’t complain about not having “enough time” to write when she was near broke... single... and raising a child on her own...
She got in the game and wrote.
And Batman...
Well... Batman said it best himself:
“...That’s what Batman is about. Not winning. But failing, and getting back up, knowing he’ll fail, fail a thousand times, but still won’t give up.”
Here’s why I bring this up...
When it comes to practicing drawing for the design exams...
It can feel “daunting” like you’re destined to fail over and over...
But you can’t fail if you don’t play the game.
Failing is part of the process.
That’s how we get good at drawing and sketching.
With that said...
There is just one aspect of getting good at this skill.
🙌Motivation to keep drawing
What if I told you there are easy methods to keep motivated in this journey?
Here are some tried and tested methods:
Plan before execution: You should have a proper structure and plan of the exercises weekly. Drawing anything is not motivating to continue in the long run.
Join a Peer Group: Ask your friends to post their work and remain updated.
Post your work online: Getting social media likes stimulates the brain to release dopamine. Dopamine is a naturally-occurring “feel-good” chemical in our body.
Tune into your favorite playlist: Pair your music with a sketchbook and draw while listening to your favorite track.
Experiment with mediums: I know that the exam demands you to draw on paper with a pencil, but, you can explore other mediums once in a while in the journey to stay motivated.
Get out for a walk: Take your sketchbook sometimes for a stroll. Indulge in some live drawing activity.
Buy nice stationeries: Yes, you heard it right. The aesthetical aspect surpasses the functional part in this case. A nice stationery collection drives you to use it more. So, go ahead and do that!
Regular Feedback: Getting feedback on your work helps you measure your improvement. You can ask your friends or mentors to evaluate your work.
Now, what if I told you Kaphal Studio can help you get regular feedback on your work?
